Les was back to the daily grind today...OT, PT, and radiation. He worked hard during therapy, but I don't think he really likes it. I'm starting to think he doesn't like it when mom asks him to wiggle his toes, either. Could be that the same four walls are getting a little old, and we are sensing some mild irritability. We are hoping to break up his cabin fever with a trip outside later in the week as it warms up.
Mom and Aunt Judy visited Brookstone, Gretna, and Ashland earlier today. I think they've eliminated Gretna from the list. They said Brookstone was beautiful, new, and had great rehab facilities. Ashland is in the process of some renovation and if Les went there, it sounds like he would be in one of the renovated rooms. Both facilities will transport him to chemo. We are hearing that he may stay at the hospital until his radiation treatments are all done, so we have some time to make a plan. No confirmation on a release date yet.
I think I've changed the comment section on this blog so you can post without having an account...try it, we'd love to hear from you! We've printed what we have so far and Les is very touched by all your comments. Thank you.:)

I talked to Nancy today (I'm in Mpls) and I know she is so glad to be home where she can come for visits again. I hope you can go for an outing soon, Les. The weather is supposed to be beautiful the end of the week and just looking out a window doesn't cut it, does it? Thinking of you all....Cindy
ReplyDeleteCarolyn & Les, We have been thinking about both of you a lot. I remembered it was Carolyn's birthday on the 17th but forgot about the anniversary. Happy birthday and anniversary. We are staying up to date from the blog postings and appreciate this so much Nicki. We will try to find a time to come visit and will wait to see what next steps are. You guys mean so much to us. Take care and know our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Dottie and Kevin

Hello Les, Carolyn, and girls. Thank you for fixing this so we can send you messages. I am so computer illiterate that I didn't know how to send a message on your blog. It is so nice of you to keep us updated from day to day. Just want you to know that we think of you a lot every day and that you are in our prayers constantly. I saw Auntie Ruth today and she's doing ok. The staff really like her (as I knew they would.) They always tell me "She's so cute".
ReplyDeleteWe love you and may God Bless you and hold each of you in His Arms.
Marge and Harold Lane
Jim and I love getting the updates and are sending warm wishes your way!
ReplyDeleteBear hugs, sloppy Grandma Blobaum-like wet kisses and high fives for wiggling those toes and getting outside to breathe in the fresh spring air. Well, I'm not sure Jim wants to send his slobber your way, but you get the idea.
XOXO,
Jill & Jim
Hey Neighbor-Cam and I are so sorry you and your family are going through so much. We keep track daily of your progress. Miss waving at you from the mailbox! Know that we are sending good vibes your way everyday. Please remind Carolyn that if she needs anything we are right next door.

Thanks Nicki for this blog site. Dave and I have been checking it daily. I posted it out at Ashland Country Club
ReplyDeleteThanks for the anonymous addition to the blog site. Couldn't quite figure out how to post comments so I (we) just journaled the following comments.

Thinking of you alot lately and praying for you and your family. At this time, we're praying for your strength to endure, and you and your family's peace of mind in knowing that the Lord cradles you in his hands and quells all fears that you may have. Thanks, Carolyn for letting me know about lesblobaum.blogspot.com.

Dave just asked me how you were doing so I went to your blogspot and printed out all that was there. He asked, “What can we do?” I responded, “PRAY!” He asked if we could go visit. I said, let’s wait until the family has a plan and are more settled-----they still have to be overwhelmed with the immensity of it all! I do know that you have nothing to fear because He will provide whatever is needed.

Steve and Vicky Johnsen came to spend Easter afternoon with us and I gave them my print outs from lesblobaum.blogspot.com. They too, have been praying for you.

Can’t figure out how to post a comment so I have been posting my thoughts and prayers in a folder on my computer desktop. I keep checking the blogspot.com for updates each day. Dave and I are so happy that the brain radiation is decreasing the tumor sizes and that you are not in pain. The Lord is answering everyones’ prayers. Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God…” keeps pressing on me as I hope and pray and anxiously wait. Being the impatient person that I am, I am reminded that it is God’s time. He created you and certainly can heal you.

Our thoughts and prayers are still with you. We so much enjoyed the birthday/anniversary pictures and anxiously await more good news. The upcoming good weather is going to be a breath of fresh air, literally. Until then, hold on to your memories of your recent trip to Palm Desert.
Dave and Ronda
Sue had done some research for us since I will be in need of acute care after my heart surgery - we were very impressed with Brookstone and Bill was able to ask some very important questions and get some good feed back because of his experience as Director of Medicare so we decided that is our choice. Thinking of you daily and would be privileged to help in any way we can. ann & bill taylor

Linda (Aldrich) Williams and family
Les and family,
ReplyDeleteGet those toes wiggling! Saving your stool at Cherio's. Many prayers. Let me know if you need anything at all.
Kayleen
Wow, Les, your toes are the talk of the town! I'll bet if you had someone paint the nails a pretty pink it would be more fun to wiggle them!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, we think of you often and pray that the tumors shrink, and most of all that you're not in pain. We miss seeing you and Carolyn at church and around town. God bless you all with his strength and love and care.
There's just no problem prayer and a little golf can't solve so saving our 4th spot for you. Many prayers and keep smiling. Rose, Eric and Judy.
ReplyDeleteLes and Carolyn, Nicki and Nat,
ReplyDeleteBeth Dorsey (my sister) shared with me all that has happened and so I am sending my sincere well wishes and buckets of prayers at this triing time! Les, I so remember your graciousness when I lived with B and E. I am sending you all of the love back that you may get through this time. Words don't seem to adequately express my hope for you but:God give you all the strength you need to make it through this challenging time! Lot's of Love, Sonja Satrom
Les & Carolyn: The latter half of the week is going to be gorgeous. Hope Les can get outside for a few minutes to enjoy the weather. Les, treated your yard today with pre-emergence. Damm,
ReplyDeletethat yard of yours has some steep areas!! Seems like I was going uphill the whole time. I did post a little something for Carolyn under the "Memorable Day" blog. Alice & Earl
Les and Carolyn. You are both in my thoughts. Keep on keeping on and know that all your friends in Ashland are hoping for the very best. Martha Fricke
