A hair cut like the good old days...

Since Les was losing much of his hair due to the radiation, I brought my clippers up to the hospital today and gave him a Marine style hair cut. I left it 1/4" long...not sure how short the Marines go. ;) He has been spending time sitting in a chair the last couple days and I think they are planning to take him outside tomorrow for some of the 75˚ day. He is very tired of the hospital food, but can't really give us any ideas for what would taste better when we offer to bring him something in. I think he eats just to make mom and the nurses happy. He does enjoy a little Baker's chocolate almost every day, though, so you know those taste buds are still working! The right leg was moving a lot today for PT and OT, so we hope those muscles are coming back and getting strong. Thanks for all the warm wishes. Enjoy the spring weather!

  1. Hey Uncle Les! Makenna says that your hair still looks good (even though it looks a lot like Papa Mike's) and she's glad to see you in your glasses again! Keep those muscles moving and enjoy the weather tomorrow. Praise God for the little things! We love you!

  2. Les,
You certainly look good in your picture.

I agree with you, hospital food.....UGH!

Try some salty, crispy french fries, a thin "kid's meal" burger, or Panera soups,
    they aren't too heavy.

We are sending you our positive thoughts and our nightly prayers.

Hugs to you and your family,
    Cindy and Brian

  3. Ben found a really cool website and bookmarked it. It has bible verses for every possible situation. From Isaiah 41:13 "I am the Lord your God. I am holding your hand, so don't be afraid. I am here to help you." I think those golf caps will look perfect with the new hair cut. We are praying for you daily. God's love to all of you.

  6. Hi Blobaum clan! I've been keeping tabs on Les since Dad gave me the website - thanks so much for the updates. You've ALL been in my prayers! Keep working that leg Les, I would hate to have to come up there and give you a swift kick in the shin - ha!!! It's funny how little things stick in your mind - I can hear your laugh just clear as a bell and of course running for my life after I gave you that kick, which I am sorry for by the way! :)

    Love and prayers from Holdrege!

  8. Les, Carolyn and family,
I've been keeping up on your progress via your blog. What a nice way to know specifically what to pray for that day when thinking of you. Keep up the fight! By the way, you look handsome in your new Marine style haircut. Must have a good, loving barber.

  13. Hi Les:
Tom & I have been checking in on you most every day. Was good news that Carolyn & Judy are trying to spring you from that place! We were also encouraged about the strength coming back to your leg. Keep working those muscles & we will keep praying for your recovery!

Tom has been planting round the clock for almost a week. We had a few showers a week ago but things are really dry. No break-downs & things are going well. I picked him up on the north Mees place a while ago to help him get his pick-up. He finished Judy's corn this afternoon & is starting on yours now.

Keep up the fight & give Carolyn a big hug from the both of us!

    Love,
    Priscilla

  14. Les,

I could send you some Arizona tacos to eat, instead of the hospital food, but I am afraid the Post Office would certainly declare them some sort of weapon.

Anyway, Ladd Bausch, his wife Nancy, and their two sons Morgan and Logan send you support and prayers from Glendale, Arizona.

  15. Les = Love the cut- Pat the barber couldn't have done a better job. Now speaking heart to heart to you - think of the food you miss the most and treat yourself to a LITTLE bit of it once. Please know that we are thinking and praying for you - the whole town misses your bright smiliing face, and your infectous laugh. Praying for better news on a daily basis. Chin up and know that many people are praying for you and yours.
