A quiet weekend

After lots of activity on Friday, the weekend was quiet blessing. Les had a few visitors, slept a bit, and kept that right foot moving. He is good at moving the foot, but the leg is much harder. He is somewhat reluctant to do any exercises with us (a nap usually takes precedence), but when OT or PT comes, he plays along a little better. He is beginning to lose his hair. We are finding his pillow full of gray hair several times a day. Good thing he's acquired all those golf caps all these years. :)

He seems anxious to know what the next part of the plan is, but without knowing when he is being released, we are still looking at options. Ashland, Gretna, and the new place out by Elkhorn, Brooksotne, are all under consideration. We'll need to visit and see about transportation, rehab facilities, etc. This will be the last week for radiation on his head/neck. Please pray that these last visits really make an impact. Thanks so much for checking in on him!

  1. Hey Nik, a little 2nd hand info on Brookestone...we had a friend's Aunt live with us for nearly a month (she left the week before Easter) while her husband went to rehab (for a new hip) at Brookestone. Both she and her husband were incredibly pleased with the facility and especially the employees. Rod and I both visited him while he was there and we were also impressed. Continued prayers for comfort and miracles are coming your way from the Markins.

  5. Just a late Sunday note to let Les know that we are thinking of him, praying for him, hanging on every blog log.

Les(son) of the day: One can live well without hair. In fact, if I were to list my shortcomings the list would be long, and not having hair wouldn't make the list.

It looks like corn planting will get going this week, so I may not check in here as often. Just know we're thinking of you all!

  7. Les, Carolyn, and family,
We were in NW Iowa this week-end for church conference. It was good to see photos and hear about your celebration on Friday - our thoughts were with you all day! We pray the radiation treatments this week will do exactly what is needed.
Sending our love, Chris & Linda
